Black Square is a male character competing in Open Source Objects.
Personality[]
Black Square's hyper-conscious over how he comes across to others to a potentially unhealthy degree. He desperately doesn't want to be hated or seen as boring, which can lead to him acting on impulse without thinking over the consequences of his actions. He can't talk and has a hard time expressing his feelings well, which tragically leads to him usually angering someone, even if that's not his intent.
Appearance[]
Black Square is not truly black, but rather very dark purple, and appears to have a little bit of depth, about the same amount of depth as Coaster. He also has no mouth, and therefore cannot speak. He is based off of the Black Square from the square marble race.

Before OSO[]
Black Square was a colour competing in the square marble race, and he won. He then destroyed Yellow Pancake’s perfect pancake.
Episode 1 - "Who the hell recommended Glowing Heart"[]
With two balloons tied around his body, Black Square's lofty position is interrupted and popped by a falling Microphone. Visibly annoyed, Black Square's impact with the ground leaves him dead and up for elimination, taking out a flower with him.
Episode 2 - "Your Opinion is Invalid"[]
In "Your Opinion is Invalid", Black Square goes along with the other contestants who lost last episode to the elimination area. Before it is revealed who got the most votes, Loren stands up and quits due to thinking he would be eliminated. Crayon Box tries to get him to come back inside, but fails, and Loren is eliminated. When Crayon Box returns, she tells Black Square that he should have been eliminated, due to receiving the most votes, and that he should watch himself. In response, Black Square becomes overly anxious and worried.
During the contest, Nail Clippers asks Black Square if he wants to pair up with her after being rejected by Retainer. Black Square accepts and Nail Clippers gets on top of him. Black Square ends up bumping into Tart and OSO Novel, and them and Nail Clippers get into an argument. Nail Clippers orders Black Square to kick the other pair, but Tart thinks that Black Square wouldn't hurt a fly.
After being pressured enough by Nail Clippers, he eventually gives in and kicks Tart, sending OSO Novel falling to the ground and putting them up for elimination.
Episode 3 - "The Good, The Bad, and The ********"[]
Black Square was placed on Blue Crayon's team. Due to being speechless, he was considered unfit to be an actor by Putty, and was appointed as the team's prop manager. Anxious over the responsibility, Black Square gave his all to the task, although he seemed overwhelmed at points. While working backstage during the Yellow Team's play, he noticed Microphone dub OSO Novel's line when she forgot it.
Black Square woke up Guarana when the latter nearly slept through his part. Guarana then proceeded to fumble over his line, so Black Square begged Microphone in the audience to dub the line for him. Microphone acquiesced, citing that he owed Black Square for killing him in episode 1.
The Blue Team's play ends up getting first place, much to Black Square's relief. This keeps him safe from elimination.
Episode 4 - "The Butterfly Effect"[]
Black Square attempts to swipe one of the butterflies lured by the sound of Phonograph's music, but falls flat on his face, drawing her attention. Phonograph offers to help him, letting him catch one of the butterflies, drawing the attention of the Dango and many other contestants. Black Square catches a butterfly with Phonograph's help and turns it in, succeeding in the challenge.
Episode 5 - “Oh Snap!”
After the challenge was announced, Black Square is seen getting teamed up with Cologne and Nail Clippers. Black square is seen taking a camera and running with it, before almost bumping directly into Tart. The two have a confrontation, in which Tart seems to forgive Black Square for kicking her in “Your Opinion is Invalid”. Despite this, Black Square still seemed uncomfortable by her remarks, and is seen walking away from her quickly after, where he encounters the rest of his team.
Upon Nail Clippers revealing her built in nail file, Black Square, along with Cologne, back away in discomfort. Nail Clippers makes a remark to the pair, claiming that the two can’t afford to lose, and that they can’t ‘bank on another quit or tiebreaker.’ Black square seems uncomfortable throughout the event, but Nail Clippers attempts to reassure the pair, saying that she is on their side today. Despite this, Black Square doesn’t seem convinced, hiding himself behind Cologne as Nail Clippers walks away.
Later on, the three are on the hunt for photos. Black Square falls slightly behind, so Nail Clippers tells Cologne to get Black Square and scout ahead. Nail Clippers walks off once again, which leaves Cologne and Black Square alone. Black Square attempts to communicate something to Cologne, but Cologne slaps his hand away, which causes Black Square to become irritated. Black Square continues to try and communicate, but Cologne claims that the pair have a job to do, and that they don’t have time for this. This further upsets Black Square, but before he is able to express anything else, he is dragged off by Cologne, claiming he can take his anger issues out after the challenge.
However, after Cologne ensures they are alone, the tone seems to change, as he claimed he has something ‘important’ to talk to Black Square about. Cologne then says the two should form an alliance, seeing as they both should have been eliminated previously. Black Square seemed confused, so Cologne explains further, saying that if either of them were to falter, they would be toast, and that if they paired up, it would benefit both of them. With that explanation, Black Square seemed convinced and agreed to the alliance, in which Cologne claimed that it was ‘a weight off of his shoulders’. Cologne continues, claiming he wouldn’t know what he’d do if he had to face the competition alone, and brings up that he is particularly worried about Glowing Heart, Diamond, and Nail Clippers. However, he is unable to finish his thought, as Nail Clippers interrupts the pair. She claims that she had been listening to the entire arrangement, and that she wants to join. However, Black Square seems hesitant, shaking his head no to the offer. Nail Clippers insists, claiming that a secret alliance between Cologne and Black Square looks shady. With that, Black Square seemed uncomfortable, but Cologne lets Nail Clippers join the alliance.
Upon hearing Diamond’s voice from above, Black Square climbed onto a tree in order to get a better view. Nail Clippers and Cologne followed behind, and the three are seen watching Diamond, Glowing Heart, and Penny from the tree. After overhearing Glowing Heart claim she knows where to find something interesting, Nail Clippers suggests that they should follow the other team, and Cologne intersects, saying they can take the glory for themselves. After Nail Clippers jumped out of the tree, Cologne is seen pulling Black Square off from one of the limbs, causing Black Square to fall from the tree and onto his face. He seemed dizzy for a moment, but snapped out of it in order to keep up with Cologne and Nail Clippers. As revenge for pulling him out of the tree, Black Square pushed Cologne, which caused a small physical altercation between the two.
Black Square along with the rest of his team are seen following team ‘GHPaD’ into the cave. Black Square seemed scared of the cave environment, however, once Nail Clippers spotted the strange creature in the cave, later revealed to be Retainer, Cologne is seen asking Black Square to be the one to take the photo. However, Black Square seems to have doubts, causing him to panic as multiple voices in his head overlap. However, his thoughts are interrupted when Cologne reassures him, telling him that he would take the blame if anything went wrong, ensuring Black Square’s safety. This successfully reassured Black Square, and he took the camera and ran off to take the photo. Nail Clippers notes that Cologne does have some good traits, in which Cologne replies, saying selfless sacrifice is part of his brand.
Despite still seeming visibly nervous, Black Square successfully manages to take the photo of the ‘strange creature’. As the photo prints out, it is revealed that the strange creature was really just Retainer. Retainer speaks to Black Square, asking him if he got his good side. However, this only manages to terrify Black Square more, and Black Square ran off before Retainer or GHPaD could ask him anymore questions. He is followed by Cologne and Nail Clippers, and the three successfully leave the cave with the photo in hand. Diamond would be disappointed that Black Square stole the weird creature photo, and Retainer remarks that he ‘scared him off’. Once the photo is submitted, Black Square’s team got a total score of 23, ensuring their safety. Nail Clippers congratulates Black Square, and Guarana does the same. Then, Black Square would walk away, seeming relieved.

Trivia[]
- He was supposed to be eliminated in Episode 2, however, with Loren's departure, he stayed safe.
- If Loren did not quit, he would be the first contestant to die and be eliminated at the same time.
- Black Square is one of the objects that can't (normally) talk. The other ones being Blob and ********.
